Some delicious destinations for holiday, New Year's meals

It's time to make your reservations for a holiday dinner, whether it's a food- and fun-filled New Year's Eve celebration or a festive Christmas feast.

Here are a few places that will be serving up one or the other, or both:

Barndiva in Healdsburg: Boasting a newly refurbished lounge and decorated to the rafters, the restaurant will serve a luxurious, six-course dinner by executive chef Ryan Fancher starting at 5 p.m. Dec. 31. The dinner includes a Chevre and Beet Salad, Chestnut Soup with Spiced Beignets, Day-boat Scallops with Caramelized Cauliflower, John Dory with Caviar and Chive Cream, Filet Mignon with Madeira and Morels and a Harlequin Chocolate Dome with Huckleberry Coulis. Cost is $135, including surprise shooters. Wine pairing and cocktails available. 231 Center St. 431-0100.

Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar in Sonoma will host a three-course dinner on Christmas day prepared by chef Andrew Wilson. The dinner, served from 2 to 8 p.m., offers multiple options for each guest, plus Christmas Flights by Sommelier Christopher Sawyer that start at $24. Carneros Bistro will also host a prix fixe dinner from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve, with optional wine pairings by Sommelier Christopher Sawyer. $75. 1325 Broadway St. 935-6600.

Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg: The restaurant will serve a special four-course menu from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, including specialties such as Wood-Fire Roasted Chestnut Soup, American Wagyu with Brioche Bread Pudding, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. John Ash & Co. in Santa Rosa: Dressed up in festive decor, the restaurant will be open for dinner from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, serving an a la carte menu that includes Hog Island Oysters, Roasted Sea Bass, and Beef Filet with Portabello Mushrooms. The restaurant will be open for lunch on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays through December. On New Year's Eve, there will be two seatings: a three-course dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and a five-course dinner from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Both dinners include a glass of Roederer Brut Sparkling or Celebration Cocktail. Long Meadow Ranch Winery & Farmstead in St. Helena: Executive chef Stephen Barber will present a four-course, prix-fixe dinner on New Year's Eve that includes special dishes such as Miyagi Oysters on the Half Shell with American Caviar, Raosted Sonoma Duck with Fried Rice, and Potato Gnocchi with Wild Mushrooms. While dessert is served, guests will enjoy live music and a countdown to 2013, followed by a champagne toast. Seating is limited. $85 per person. 963-9181. 738 Main St.

Christmas Tea

Patisserie Angelica will offer a special Christmas Tea from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Sunday at the Sebastopol bakery, which will be decked out for the holidays.

The menu includes holiday favorites such as gingerbread, linzer torte and peppermint brownies. Cost is $26 and reservations are required: 827-7998.

Patisserie Angelica has expanded its hours and is now open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 6821 Laguna Park Way.

SONOMA VALLEY

Gingerbread event

The 7th annual Sonoma Valley Gingerbread Contest will continue at 13 participating wineries in the Sonoma Valley through the month.

Visitors can pick up a map and a ballot at any of the participating wineries and vote for their favorite gingerbread creation.

For this year's contest, the wineries based their gingerbread masterpieces on a favorite Christmas movie, from "The Polar Express" at Chateau St. Jean to "A Christmas Story" at Imagery Estate Winery.

HEALDSBURG

Jazzy prix-fixe

Through March, the Dry Creek Kitchen will serve prix-fixe dinners on Monday and Tuesday nights featuring live jazz.

The dinners cost $36, or $51 with wine pairing, and $2 from each meal will be donated to the Healdsburg Education Foundation.

Good Food Awards

Finalists for the 2013 Good Food Awards, now in their third year, have been announced in nine categories.

The winners, drawn from five regions across the U.S., will be selected by a panel of judges and honored at a ceremony on Jan. 18 at San Francisco's Ferry Building.

Here are the North Bay nominees:

Beer: Bear Republic Brewery in Healdsburg for Racer 5 IPA and Tartare; and Mill Valley Beerworks in Mill Valley for Four Brothers.

Charcuterie: Fatted Calf Charcuterie in Napa for Duck Pat?with Pistachio and Stone Fruit.

Cheese: Barinaga Ranch in Marshall for Txiki; Bellwether Farms in Petaluma for Whole Milk Ricotta; Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. in Point Reyes Station for Bay Blue; Weirauch Farm & Creamery in Petaluma for Saint Rose.

Coffee: Flying Goat Coffee in Healdsburg for Ethiopia Wottuna Boltuma.

Spirits: Charbay Winery & Distillery in St. Helena for Charbay R5 Whiskey, Aged.
