<strong> Newsroom Administrative Assistant
The Press Democrat, a division of Sonoma Media Investments is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our newsroom. This position will be responsible for assisting and working with the newsroom editors to coordinate personnel, planning, budget, and research tasks.
; Provides support to reporters and other newsroom staff by answering and screening telephone calls from the public in a timely and professional manner.
; Exercises considerable judgment and discretion in handling telephone calls and appointments.
; Helps manage Accounts Payable for the newsroom using Excel and other budgeting tools to track invoices, assign correct account codes and maintain expense reports.
; Assists newsroom managers with payroll to ensure that timecards are complete, accurate and consistent with newsroom work rules.
; Works with news research to maintain digital archive of stories photos and other content.
; Coordinates meeting details, including but not limited to agendas, reserving and preparation of facilities, food, refreshments, and recording and transcribing meeting minutes.
; Composes, types, and distributes professional correspondence using individual initiative.
; Coordinates travel arrangements.
; Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree, or equivalent experience and education required.
; Must possess a valid California State Driver's License, proof of insurance and have reliable transportation.
; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
; Ability to plan and organize projects.
; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

<strong> Office Manager, servicing our Petaluma and Sonoma weekly newspaper operations
Sonoma Media Investments is seeking a full-time Office Manager to join our team. This position will be responsible for managing all accounting, administrative, customer service, legal advertising and business functions of the Petaluma Argus Courier and Sonoma Index Tribune.
; Process payables by coding, obtaining approval and submitting to Business office for payment.
; Monitor Actual expenses against budgeted and accrued expenses. Do monthly variance and expense forecast reports.
; Process month end close for both business units, including GL review, submission of expense reports and preparation of accruals worksheet.
; Administer the Newspaper in Education Program (NIE), in coordination with the Press Democrat circulation staff and NIE Coordinator on sponsorships and product delivery to local schools.
; Provide excellent customer service to front counter customers and callers in getting their needs met, including the placement of legal notices, classified ads, obituaries, purchasing papers, magazines, or photos.
