Second-round action in the CCCAA Regional Soccer Tournament is on tap Tuesday with the Santa Rosa JC men playing at home while the women travel to Sacramento.

The men host West Valley at 2 p.m. while the women play Cosumnes River at 6 p.m.

The SRJC men are the No. 3 seed in the NorCal bracket while West Valley is No. 6.

"They're the best team we've played all year," Bear Cubs coach Marty Kinahan said of West Valley.

The Vikings, the champs of Coast-South Conference, are 15-3-3 overall.

Santa Rosa, second in the Big Eight Conference, defeated Cabrillo, 4-2, in the opening round last Saturday to improve to 11-3-6.

"If we're going to win, we have to play better than we did in the first round," Kinahan said. "We started the game by playing the best 20 minutes of soccer we've played all year. Then we let up and Cabrillo scored a couple of goals.

"That was a wake-up call and I don't think it will happen again. We've been playing good soccer lately. We're a seasoned team and I'm confident we'll be ready for West Valley."

The Bear Cubs haven't lost since Sept. 27 when American River beat them, 3-1.

Three former area high school players had key rolls in the Cabrillo win.
