SAN RAFAEL — San Rafael is getting three more electric car charging stations on top of the two it already has.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that Marin County supervisors approved a pilot program on Tuesday for the additional stations.

The plan is to set up them up at the Civic Center, the nearby Marin Center and the Marin County Health and Wellness Campus.

The county will pay for maintenance as well as the $25,000 cost of the installation, which will be done by a Campbell-based company.

Officials are considering charging $3 for a four-hour charging session.

The Transportation Authority of Marin has funding for 17 more stations, which are planned in Novato, Corte Madera, Larkspur, San Anselmo, Belvedere and Fairfax.
