2 CHP officers suffer minor injuries in Bay Area crash

LIVERMORE — Two California Highway Patrol officers are recovering after their patrol car overturned during a high-speed chase on Interstate 580 in the Livermore area.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. Monday when the officers went into the center divider to avoid a big rig. They were pursuing a vehicle that sped off after they tried to pull it over.

CHP Sgt. Rick Luciano tells KGO-TV the officers suffered cuts and bruises.

At least one other CHP patrol car continued the pursuit and arrested the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The suspects have not been identified.
