Bay Area man robbed after answering Craigslist ad

Police are renewing their call to be careful when making transactions via Craigslist, after an Oakland man was robbed at gunpoint and his friend stared down a gun in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.

The robbery occurred about 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, after the 20-year-old victim responded to a Craigslist ad from Vacaville regarding car parts for sale, Pinole police Cmdr. Pete Janke said. The victim and the advertiser, who identified himself to the victim as "Arthur" set up a meeting in the parking lot of Wendy's, Janke said.

The suspects escaped in what is described as a gold, four-door Toyota Camry LS but not before a passenger in that car pointed a gun at the victim's friend, Janke said. The Camry LS was manufactured between 1995 and 2000, the windows are tinted on the front and back, and the California license plate number is similar to 41SF770, Janke said.
