Willits man found with 88-pound pot haul arrested after Nebraska traffic stop

A Mendocino County man was arrested early Friday in Nebraska on suspicion of transporting more than 80 pounds of marijuana.

A state trooper pulled over a pickup on a traffic violation just before 2:30 a.m. Friday along Interstate 80 in Lincoln, the Nebraska State Patrol said.

Shane Barrett, 41, of Willits, was arrested after a check of his driver's license showed that he was wanted on a warrant alleging drug possession in Sonoma County. Officers found a bottle of hydrocodone tablets and 40 packages of pot in the truck, the patrol said.

Barrett was held Friday in the Lancaster County jail, authorities said.
