The Wells Fargo Center for the Arts has added two new shows to its 2014-2015 season, which opens in September.
Tickets go on sale at noon today for both shows: singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat on Sept. 20 and the band O.A.R. (short for Of a Revolution) on Sept. 30. Tickets for each cost $49 to $59.
The O.A.R. show will be the first to take advantage of the main auditorium’s removable seats, installed during the center’s $3.3 million renovation last year.
When the seats are removed, the entire main floor will be open, increasing the venue’s capacity from 1,681 to standing room for 2,023, creating an atmosphere that’s a bit more like a festival than a formal concert.
The center’s new season, announced in May, opened earlier this month and runs through mid-May, with author and humorist David Sedaris appearing on May 6.
Highlights include Jennifer Nettles, lead vocalist for the duo Sugarland on Sept. 11, author and radio star Garrison Keillor on Dec. 3, and comedian Brian Regan on Dec. 5.
The center reports a 43 percent increase in ticket sales last season, the first presented since the renovation was completed. Tickets sold totaled 81,313, an increase of 24,500 over the previous season.
