‘It's a Wonderful Life’ for cheap on the big screen in Santa Rosa (w/video)

Three local theaters will screen “It’s a Wonderful Life” this weekend for $5 a seat.|

Few films have had a lifespan like Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life.” And this weekend in Santa Rosa, it will live again.

The 1946 classic, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, was nominated for five Academy Awards and listed by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 best American movies ever made.

After an initially weak showing at the box office when it was originally released, the story of George Bailey and his rumpled guardian angel returned to become a mainstay of Christmastime television during the 1980s, although relatively few of its fans have ever seen it on the big screen.

Two Santa Rosa theaters and Airport Stadium 12 - will screen “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday through Monday, Dec. 20-22.

All seats cost $5. Information: www.sregmovies.com.
