Famed singer Frederica von Stade to perform at free Green Music Center concert (w/video)

The revered mezzo-soprano, along with the Argento Chamber Ensemble, will perform at a weekend concert to commemorate the end of a 2-year residency for group Trio Ariadne.|

Trio Ariadne will present a free farewell concert at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at Weill Hall with special guests, mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and the Argento Chamber Ensemble.

Recognized as one of the most beloved singers of our time, von Stade has enriched the world of classical music for three decades with her appearances on the opera, concert and recital stages.

The program will include a new orchestration of Gustav Mahler’s epic “Songs of a Wayfarer” by Argento Chamber Ensemble Director Michel Galante along with works by Robert Schumann, Aldo Clementi, Gyorgy Ligeti and Giancinto Scelsi.

The Trio Ariadne, whose members have served two years as artists-in-residence at the Green Music Center’s Weill Hall, includes clarinetist Carol McGonnell, pianist Elizabeth Joy Roe and cellist Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir.
