Tribal Fest 15 in Sebastopol celebrates belly dance

Public performances by 226 acts from 19 countries scheduled May 15-17 at the Sebastopol Community and Cultural Center.|

Tribal Fest 15 -- billed as the “world’s first and largest tribal-and-alternative style belly dance event -- will run May 12-17 in Sebastopol, closing with a full weekend of public performances.

The festival, themed “A Tribal Family Reunion” this year, will feature 226 acts from 19 countries May 15-17 at the Sebastopol Community and Cultural Center, 390 Morris St.

Show times are noon-9:30 p.m. Friday, May 15; 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, May 17.

The event celebrates traditional tribal dance and belly dance styles from all over the world.

Admission costs $20 per day. Admission to a daily market with nearly 70 booths is free. Information: blacksheepbellydance.com.

A Tribal Fest “After Party” with dance performances will be held at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the HopMonk Tavern, 230 Petaluma Ave., Sebastopol. Admission: $25 and up. 829-7300, hopmonk.com.
