The Budrows playing Toad in the Hole on June 4
How often do you get to hear rock 'n' roll played on a guitar made out of a cigar box?
You'll get your chance Thursday, June 4, when The Budrows play the Toad in the Hole pub in Santa Rosa's Railroad Square.
The Southern California trio's guitarist, Jason Farthing, started out as a one-man band, playing his homemade cigar box guitar, as well as a kick drum and a tambourine.
He was soon joined by his stepdaughter, singer Macarena Rivera, and the duo began writing songs and performing together as The Budrows, meaning 'buddies.'
Harmonica player Jess 'El Gato' Boden, who also plays the flute, later joined the trio and performed on its new extended-play disc, 'No Bad Whiskey,' released earlier this year.
The group has added some other old-time instruments, including a gas can banjo, and a washboard for percussion.
The Budrows will play starting at 10 p.m. at the Toad in the Hole, 116 Fifth St. Admission is free. Information: 707-544-8623, thetoadpub.com.
