The Imaginists take two summer shows on the road -- by bicycle

Traveling troupe will perform two different shows, at seven Santa Rosa parks and four food bank lunch sites.|

Every summer, the Imaginists theater collective in Santa Rosa presents bilingual, bicycle-powered traveling shows, performing for free at parks all over Santa Rosa.

This summer’s seventh annual tour opens Sunday at Juilliard Park, with the first of two plays, “The Butterfly’s Evil Spell,” a 40-minute poetic comedy about insects by Federico García Lorca.

The 30-minute “Art is Medicine Show,” traveling to Redwood Food Bank summer lunch sites in July, opens July 2 at at Alicia Park.

The Imaginists’ summer tour program won a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2013 and again this year.

This summer’s performance schedule:
