Cartoonist, writer and former reality TV star Judd Winick will appear Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Charles Schulz Museum and the Santa Rosa Toy Con at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Winick first won fame for his turn on MTV’s “The Real World: San Francisco” in 1994, and went on to work on comic books, including “Green Lantern” and “Green Arrow.”

“Pedro and Me,” his autobiographical graphic novel about his friendship with “Real World” co-star and AIDS educator Pedro Zamora, was published in 2000.

Winick created the animated TV series “The Life and Times of Juniper Lee,” which ran for three seasons on the Cartoon Network.

He will be at the Schulz Museum, 2301 Hardies Lane, at 2 p.m. to discuss his work and sign copies of his new book, “Hilo: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth.” Winick also will meet fans at the museum’s booth at the Toy Con from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The convention will open at the fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley, with an “early bird” hour at 9 a.m., with admission priced at $25. Regular hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a long roster of comics artists and writers and toy designers on hand. Regular admission costs $15.

More than 200 booths will offer vintage and collectible toys and comics. The day also will include a “cosplay” -- or costume play -- competition.
