Fuzzy folk face off at Petaluma Whiskerino contest

It’ll be all about the face fuzz when bearded entrants gather from all over the map Saturday, Oct. 10, for the 57th annual Bill Soberanes Memorial Petaluma Whiskerino contest.

Named for Sobaranes, Petaluma’s beloved local newspaper columnist for 49 years until his death in 2003, the contest gets under way with registration at 2 p.m. at the Phoenix Theater , 201 Washington St., in downtown Petaluma.

Admisssion is free, and the contest entry fees range from $10 to $35.

Whiskered hopefuls may enter in categories including best beard, best sideburns, best peach fuzz and the best ladies Whiskerina.
