Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello, other big names headed to Sonoma, Napa counties

Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello, Rickie Lee Jones, Ani DiFranco and others are set to perform at local venues in the next few weeks.|

Sometimes the ticket sale announcements sail right by, while people are thinking about other things like work or school, so sometimes a reminder is worthwhile.

And it’s still fun to know what’s going on, even if you can’t make it to the show.

Here are half a dozen live shows by familiar performers that are coming to Sonoma and Napa counties during the next few weeks, listed in chronological order.

A couple of them sold out early, but there’s always hope on the Internet if a ticket holder decides to sell.

1. Indigo Girls. The American folk-rock duo - Amy Ray and Emily Saliers - comes to Napa County, with Lucy Wainwright Roche opening the show. 8 p.m. Feb. 20. Uptown Theatre, Napa. Sold out; call for waiting list, (707) 259-0123.

2. Rickie Lee Jones. Comfortable with a variety of styles - rock, R&B, blues, pop, soul and jazz - the two-time Grammy winner plays Petaluma. Her current work includes the Public Broadcasting System special “Rickie Lee Jones Live at the Kate,” filmed at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, Conn. Her new album “The Other Side of Desire” was the subject of a documentary film shown late last year at the Toronto Film Festival. 8 p.m. Feb. 21. Mystic Theatre. $41-$96. 3. Ani DiFranco. With more than 20 albums to her credit, the singer-songwriter is traveling all over the western United States for her current tour, including a stop in Sebastopol. 8 p.m. Feb. 27. Sebastopol Community Cultural Center. Sold out. (707) 823-1511, seb.org.

4. The Chieftains. Paddy Maloney, master of the Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes), and his world-famous traditional Irish band tour constantly in the weeks leading up to St. Patrick’s Day each year, and they’re coming Rohnert Park this time. 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27. 5. Soul and pop singer Mary Wilson. The founding member of the Supremes teams up with Lenny Williams, former lead singer for Tower of Power. 8 p.m. March 12. Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. 6. Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello. Elvis brings his “Detour” tour to Santa Rosa, singing and playing guitar and piano, backed by family photos and other images projected on a giant screen. 8 p.m. March 29. Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. $69-$85. (707) 546-3600, wellsfargocenterarts.org.
