Music fans around the world mourn the death Aug. 8 of "Rhinestone Cowboy" singer Glen Campbell, but the memories are especially poignant and potent for local fans who saw his farewell performance at Napa’s Uptown Theatre in 2012.

Campbell, 81, had long battled Alzheimer’s disease, a struggle chronicled in the 2014 documentary film, “Glen Campbell ... I’ll Be Me,” which included footage of Campbell’s 2011-2012 farewell tour, as well as his final concert in Napa. Campbell was 76 at the time of the Uptown performance.

Footage of the show, featuring his courageous rendition of his hit version of John Hartford “Gentle on My Mind,” has been popping up all over the internet this week.
