Things to do and fire relief benefits in Sonoma County, Oct. 20-29
This week's focus is a mixture of family-friendly events to help you get out of the house and do something "normal," and a few events that will help you raise money for fire victims. Have a good and SAFE weekend!

Friday, Oct. 20Glow vigil at Old Courthouse Square: This Friday at 7 p.m., a group is organizing a gathering at Old Courthouse Square, bringing the community together in the wake of the firestorm. There will be glow sticks, flameless candles, speakers and music at this community building event. Find out more at the Facebook event page. Friday Night Benefit Swing: This Friday, swing your heart out for a good cause when Ellington Hall in Santa Rosa hosts a dance event to help raise funds for local fire victims. Drop in for a Jitterbug lesson from 7:30-8:30 p.m., then stick around for social dancing 8:30-11 p.m. No partner necessary, and tickets are $15, or free for those in need. Saturday, Oct. 21Fire benefit at Sonoma Cider: This Saturday, Sonoma Cider in Healdsburg will host a benefit concert featuring bands Two Lions Band, Three for Silver, and Fast Heart Mart in a benefit concert to raise funds for those impacted by the Sonoma County Fires. Donation stations will also be set up to accept funds to help the Hurricane victims of Harvey, Irma and recent earthquakes in Mexico. There is a $10 suggested minimum donation; however, no one will be turned away. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. For more information visit facebook.com/SonomaCider.
Through SaturdaySonoma Family Meal: To offer some relief for Sonoma County fire victims, a team of chefs and volunteers have banded together, creating pre-packaged gourmet meals at a pop-up at the SRJC's Culinary Arts Center parking lot at 1700 Mendocino Avenue. Just drive up, pick up, then get back to your family. Meals will be served through dinner Saturday. Saturday, Oct. 21Peacetown Fire Benefit: This Saturday, enjoy an afternoon of singing, dancing, live music and more in a benefit event for local fire victims. Admission is free to this all-ages event, happening noon to 6 p.m at Ives Park in Sebastopol. Find out more at seb.org.
Saturday, Oct. 21A Thousand Thanks Pancake Breakfast: Boy Scouts Troop 32 is serving up a pancake breakfast at Church of the Roses (2500 Patio Court, Santa Rosa) this Saturday from 7:30-11:30 a.m., and all they need from you is your generosity to help fire victims. Come make a monetary donation of any size to the North Bay Fire Relief fund and sign a massive thank you sign for local heroes, then enjoy breakfast, free of charge. Non-perishable foods will also be accepted for the Redwood Empire Food Bank.
Pasta Feed for Cardinal Newman: Raise funds to help support the severely damaged Cardinal Newman High School with a pasta feed this Saturday at St. Vincent's High School in Petaluma. Mass is from 6-7 p.m., and dinner will be served 7:15-10 p.m. Tickets are $20, and there will also be a raffle. Healing Art Event: This Saturday, the Full Circle Art Therapy Studio is hosting a free art event to help residents “heal out of the ashes.” Drop in times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 360 Tesconi Circle in Santa Rosa, and children are welcome with an adult. Kids Halloween Extravaganza: The Copperfield's store in Sebastopol is celebrating Halloween early with snacks, a costume contest and other Halloween fun for kids of all ages. Diwali Festival of Lights: Celebrate the Hindu festival of light this Saturday at the Mary Agatha Furth Center in Windsor with an event that includes henna, performances, dinner and more.
