Santa Rosa Symphony hosted its first concert in 1928, the same year Mickey Mouse made his cartoon debut in "Steamboat Willie.” Ninety years later, Mayor Chris Coursey has declared Santa Rosa Symphony Day on April 25, 2018.

The city's proclamation lists honors and achievements from the symphony over the last nine decades. The Santa Rosa Symphony has grown to become the third-largest in the state, with a music education program that serves some 30,000 young people each year.

"It's a privilege to be a part of this strong arts organization with such deep roots in the community,” said Alan Silow, Santa Rosa Symphony president and chief executive, quoted in a press release. "Our music education programs are a national model and our regional orchestra is the largest north of Los Angeles. We look forward to the next 90 years."

The symphony's 90th season schedule includes 21 classical series concerts (seven sets), seven dress rehearsal concerts, a three-concert family series and a four-concert pops series, as well as special concerts.
