According to CHP Public Information Officer, Chris Parker, the driver driver of the semi was traveling eastbound on the freeway while eating, when he suddenly began choking and lost consciousness. The semi swerved briefly onto the right shoulder before veering to the left across all lanes of traffic, striking two vehicles before plowing into, and through, the center divide. The truck then collided head-on with a westbound BMW sedan, killing both occupants and causing both vehicles to burst into flames.
