Solo crash closes road near Kelseyville for hours

A rural road near Kelseyville was closed in both directions for more than four hours Saturday afternoon after a BMW on its way to a Woodstock anniversary concert at a nearby resort plowed into a utility pole, rolled over and landed in a pasture.

The crash occurred on Highway 175 southeast of Kelseyville shortly before 1 p.m. The road reopened just before 5:30 p.m. after utility crews completed repairs.

The closure inconvenienced many motorists who, like the pair involved in the crash, were heading to the 1 p.m. concert at the newly reopened Hoberg’s Resort and Spa on Cobb Mountain, CHP Officer Arthur Dye said.

Southbound drivers were urged to avoid Highway 175 and instead take Red Hill Road around the crash site.

The conditions of the two occupants of the car was not immediately known, but their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Dye said.

The two-day Heroes of Woodstock concert was meant to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the 1969 music festival in Bethel, N.Y., and mark the reopening of the historic resort under new ownership.
