Power back to almost all earthquake victims in Napa, Sonoma counties

Of 70,000 PG&E Napa County and Sonoma County customers knocked out of power with Sunday’s pre-dawn earthquake, 150 customers remained out of power early Monday morning, according to a utility company spokeswoman.

The 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck at 3:20 a.m. and was centered just miles from the city of Napa. It injured hundreds, caused huge outages in the region, sparked a handful of residential fires and buckled a few roads.

The CHP Monday reported that all routes through the Napa area remained open. Road crews Sunday had conducted some temporary fixes on Highway 121, where the pavement broke and split.

PG&E repair crews expected to have the final power fixes done later Monday morning, said Jana Morris of PG&E.

Monday’s other repair effort involved gas leaks – as 20 earthquake-related gas service outages remained to be fixed.

Several hundred utility customers had called for help Sunday, mainly reporting odors of natural gas, Morris said. Crews have been going to each address to investigate.

She expected leak investigations would continue for days.
