Santa Rosa City Schools has received a $713,933 grant from the U.S. Department of Education meant to help make schools safer and improve mental health services for students.

The School Climate Transformation Grant is designed to help schools connect their students and families with support services, increase schools’ awareness of students’ mental health issues and improve the way the school responds to those issues.

“We are excited to receive financial support that continues and deepens the existing efforts of staff to create the best possible learning conditions for all of our students,” said Socorro Shiels, Santa Rosa City Schools superintendent, in a statement.
