A Petaluma man who police said fled during a stolen vehicle pursuit, leaving his girlfriend in the car, was found and arrested early Wednesday morning, the Petaluma Police Department said.

Stewart Giovanni Borondy, 29, was arrested at a residence in the 1200 block of Ramona Lane at around 10:45 Wednesday morning, several hours after police said he was spotted near Alhambra Court in a parked vehicle believed to be stolen.

Borondy drove off when police approached the car just after 1 a.m. and later pulled over and fled on foot, leaving a woman in the backseat who police said was his girlfriend.

She was arrested on unrelated charges but was not identified by police.

Borondy was later tracked to the home on Ramona Lane and was arrested after he tried to flee again, police said. He was booked at Sonoma County jail on suspicion of possession a stolen vehicle, violation of probation and evading police, a felony. The car was returned to its owner, Petaluma Police said.
