Three teens suspected in the June 22 killing of Windsor High School sophomore Nathaniel Torres were arrested in Mexico on Monday morning, more than four months after Torres and three other teens were shot outside a Windsor house party, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

The FBI and officials in Mexico used information provided by Sonoma County sheriff’s detectives to find Santa Rosa residents Flavio Ramos Caballero, 17, Oscar Gustavo Aguilar, 17, and Duane Darcell Morgan, 16, in the Mexican state of Sonora, Sgt. Cecile Focha announced in a press release.

The trio was wanted in connection with Torres’ murder and the attempted killing of three other teens who were wounded in the Windsor Avenue shooting, Focha said.

Torres, 15, was shot shortly after midnight outside the party. Two other boys were hit in their legs, and another was shot in the hand. Authorities have not said what they suspect motivated the shooting.

When reached by phone Monday night, family members of Torres did not respond to requests for comment.

A fourth suspect, 21-year-old Sergio Steven Quiroz of Santa Rosa, was arrested June 28 on suspicion of being an accessory to the homicide and is currently being held without bail in Sonoma County Jail.

Sheriff’s officials have not said whether any of the suspects were involved in gangs, though jail records show that Quiroz faces a gang enhancement charge.

Eleven days after Torres’ death, detectives named Aguilar, Morgan and Caballero as suspects and asked for the public’s help finding them, adding that they were considered armed and dangerous. At the time, Lt. Carlos Basurto said he believed they had identified all the suspects in the case.

Focha did not say what information eventually led authorities to find the trio in Sonora, Mexico. She also did not say if the gun used in the attack has been recovered.

The suspects were booked into the Pima County Jail in Arizona late Monday afternoon. They are awaiting extradition to California to face charges including homicide, Focha said. Their Sonoma County court dates have not yet been set.

Officials have released little information about the shooting, and Focha on Monday declined to release more details, including the roles the suspects played in the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.

She asked anyone with information in the case to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 565-2185.
