Free access to county parks for veterans over holiday weekend

Sonoma County supervisors have approved a plan to waive the $7 day use fee for veterans during the Veterans Day weekend next month.|

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a plan waiving the $7 day use fee for veterans visiting the county’s regional parks during Veterans Day weekend.

Between Nov. 7 and Nov. 10, military veterans and their dependents will get free access to more than 50 county parks and regional trails with a military identification card or service records known as a DD 214.

An estimated 33,000 veterans live in the county. Fees are waived for all veterans and dependents, including people who live outside of Sonoma County.
