Body of missing Santa Rosa man found in crashed car

The body of a Santa Rosa man was found in the wreckage of his car off Highway 29 one week after he disappeared on a trip to visit his son in Lake County, Sonoma County sheriff's officials reported Tuesday.

Anthony Llerena, 67, had crashed into a tree near Robert Louis Stevenson State Park in Napa County.

He'd been missing since April 15.

Llerena's body was found late Monday morning by a Caltrans crew working along the mountainous highway. It appeared he had been in the car for several days.

Sheriff's officials didn't report the finding until the man's family was contacted in person.

A search along the route into Lake County by the Sonoma County sheriff's helicopter didn't reveal the car, which was hidden from the air by trees, officials said.
