Petaluma telecommunications equipment developer Calix on Wednesday reported an increase in both sales and net losses during the third quarter.

Revenue grew 2.1 percent from a year earlier to $105.8 million. Net losses increased to $3.8 million, or 8 cents per share, from $500,000, or 1 cent per share, for the third quarter of 2013.

Calix also reported results that excluded non-cash charges for stock-based compensation and other expenses the company believes aren’t indicative of core operating results. That resulted in net income of $4.6 million for the quarter, down from $10.2 million a year ago.

“In addition to achieving record revenues in the quarter, we continued to innovate and expand our product line and our customer base by launching two entirely new solutions,” said Calix President and CEO Carl Russo.

The new offerings include a fiber-based product that allows faster home Wi-Fi, and a software product that allows cable operators to deliver faster “gigabit” services over fiber using some of their existing systems.
