Golden Gate Ferry is expanding service Friday from Larkspur to San Francisco to accommodate the hordes of Giants fans from the North Bay who are expected to flood the city for the baseball team’s World Series victory parade.

The parade starts at noon in San Francisco at Market and Steuart streets and continues west on the downtown thoroughfare.

The first two ferries depart from Larkspur Ferry Terminal at 5:45 and 6:35 a.m. Five ferries will run continuously from 7 to 11:30 a.m., leaving as soon as they are full. Expanded service also will be available for return afternoon trips from San Francisco to Larkspur.

One ferry will run on its usual weekday schedule from Sausalito. Extra staff will be on hand to handle additional passengers.

Passengers should purchase tickets ahead of time and prepare for long lines and full parking lots. Golden Gate Ferry staff representatives requested that people find alternate ways to get to the ferry terminal, such as the Catch the Wave shuttle service, walking, cycling or carpooling.
