Napa quake aid deadline Dec. 29

The deadline for people to apply for federal disaster aid related to the August earthquake near Napa is Dec. 29, Congressman Mike Thompson announced Thursday.

The Obama administration approved disaster funding for individuals and families in Napa and Solano counties to help rebuild and repair housing and other personal property.

The magnitude-6.0 temblor struck in the early morning hours of Aug. 24, killing one person, injuring about 200 others and causing about $360 million in property damage throughout the region.

Aid applications can be submitted online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov; via smartphone at m.fema.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.

“My office is also ready to assist with any hurdles people may encounter,” Thompson, D-St. Helena, said in a statement.

Businesses and homeowners also can apply for loans through the Small Business Administration via http://www.sba.gov/category/navigation-structure/loans-grants/small-business-loans/disaster-loans.
