A Petaluma pilot was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence after CHP officers found his truck in a ditch.

Michael Ferrero, 65, was on probation for a January 2012 incident of flying an airplane while under the influence. In that incident, a CHP aircraft spotted Ferrero’s plane flying erratically and followed it to the Petaluma Airport, where ground units arrested him.

Ferrero told the CHP officer responding to reports of his Toyota Tundra in a ditch on Old Redwood Highway near Highland Avenue that he was coming from the Petaluma Airport.

During a search of the vehicle officers found an open bottle of vodka. Ferrero was booked on charges of DUI, violation of probation and having an open container of alcohol.
