Petaluma police Friday identified the homeless man who died after he was found unconscious on a Petaluma sidewalk Tuesday night.

Michael Lee Patton, 60, was discovered around 7:30 p.m. lying face down on the sidewalk near B Street and Petaluma Boulevard South. He was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not suspect foul play in Patton’s death, saying it looked more like a fall than homicide. He appeared to have a small cut on his forehead and some bruising, but there were no other obvious signs of trauma, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
