2 killed by toppled trees in Northern California

Two people were killed by fallen trees Tuesday in separate Butte County incidents following winds above 60 mph that have also toppled power lines.|

PARADISE — Falling trees killed two people in separate incidents as winds topped 60 mph in Northern California.

Authorities tell the Oroville Mercury-Register (http://bit.ly/1Bl61bb ) that a person in a car in a residential neighborhood in the small town of Paradise died Tuesday when a tree fell on the vehicle. About 3 ½ miles away, another person was killed after a tree tumbled into a home.

The National Weather Service reports that the strong winds also toppled several other trees onto homes, streets, cars and power lines.

The names of those killed haven't immediately been released.
