No 'Spare the Air' day on Tuesday

Tuesday is not a "spare the air" day in Sonoma County, meaning air quality levels are not expected to dip below the healthy range.

On Monday, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District anticipated Tuesday may fall into the "moderate" or "unhealthy for sensitive groups" ranges, but that forecast was revised downward later.

Particulates in the air, especially soot produced by wood-burning appliances, caused Monday's air quality index to reach 103, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive people.

On Tuesday, the index for Sonoma County is forecast to be 87, squarely in the "moderate" range. Still, the air quality district recommends unusually sensitive people should consider limiting prolonged outdoor exertion.
