Eight injured in Napa County highway pileup

Eight people were injured Saturday in a four-vehicle pileup near Napa.

One person had to be freed from a vehicle in the crash, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at Highway 221 and Streblow Drive near the Napa Golf Course.

One of the injured people was flown by helicopter to a Bay Area trauma center, according to the Cal Fire/Napa County Fire Department.

Six others were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, and the eighth was driven in a private vehicle to a medical facility.

Emergency agencies responding to the crash included the Napa City Fire Department, Napa State Hospital, American Medical Response, California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

No further details were provided on the cause of the crash, the identities of those involved or the extent of their injuries.
