Dick’s Sporting Goods will open its new Santa Rosa store outside Coddingtown Mall on Feb. 6, the Pittsburgh-based retailer announced Monday.

The weekend’s grand-opening festivities will include an appearance by San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik, who will greet customers and sign autographs from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

“We’re excited to be joining Santa Rosa with the opening of our newest location,” said Lauren Hobart, senior vice president & chief marketing officer. “We look forward to offering the finest quality products and highest level of customer service to the Santa Rosa community.”

The doors will open at 8 a.m. Friday, when the first 100 people in line will be eligible for a free Reebok Play Dry T-Shirt. The store will open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the retailer giving the first 100 adults in line each day a free “mystery” gift card valued between $5 and $500.

The store, located outside the mall at 1975 Cleveland Ave., will feature athletic and outdoor apparel and footwear, plus gear for fitness, cycling, team sports, camping, hunting and fishing.

Founded in 1948, the company operates more than 595 sporting goods stores, including one in Petaluma.
