Man stabbed near Roxy Theater in downtown Santa Rosa

A man was stabbed near the Roxy Theater in downtown Santa Rosa on Thursday night, and police are searching for witnesses.

It is unclear what led to the stabbing, which was first reported at 7:03 p.m., said Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Brenda Harrington, who was at the scene. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to an area hospital.

Harrington said investigators were still trying to piece together what led to the stabbing and where exactly it took place.

Inside the cafe next to the theater, police removed what appeared to be bloody paper napkins that were placed on the floor.

Just after the stabbing, an emergency dispatcher reported on the radio scanner that a possible suspect was being pursued down Santa Rosa Avenue.

Harrington said no other information was available.
