Guerneville arrest in child-porn possession case

A Guerneville man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of possessing child pornography, ending a three-month investigation that involved the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigation unit and the domestic violence/sexual assault team.

Detectives discovered that Stuart Staub, 40, had shared child pornography through the Internet, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A search warrant for Staub’s Fern Road apartment in Guerneville was served on Dec. 23, and computer evidence was seized. Staub was not arrested at the time.

After forensics investigators discovered several child pornography images on the computer evidence, investigators submitted the case to the Sonoma County District Attorney for review. A felony warrant was issued for Staub’s arrest and he was taken into custody that same day.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail and his bail was set at $30,000. Staub has since posted bail and his first court appearance is set for Feb. 4, at 8:30 a.m.
