The man accused of killing former Santa Rosa resident Zachary Kane in Sacramento is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Aaron Lee Ramzy, 24, will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on a murder charge, said Shelly Orio, spokeswoman for the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Ramzy, who is being held without bail in county jail, was arrested on Wednesday in Roseville after Sacramento police investigators identified him as the suspect in the stabbing death of Kane, 23, Monday night at an apartment in the Natomas neighborhood of Sacramento.

Kane’s father and a friend said Ramzy was the brother of one of Kane’s roommates.

Kane, who was born and raised in Santa Rosa, graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in 2010 and had moved to Sacramento two years ago to attend a vocational school.

Sacramento police said Tuesday that the motive for the stabbing was unknown. Sgt. Doug Morse said Thursday that his department would release no more information since the case was in court.
