A 21-year-old Santa Rosa man pleaded no contest Friday to helping three suspects in a Windsor homicide flee the area last year after a shooting at a house party left one teen dead and three wounded.

Sergio Steven Quiroz admitted in Sonoma County Superior Court to being an accessory after the fact. He also admitted the crime was for the benefit of a street gang.

The plea deal left open the sentencing options, which range from probation to a maximum of seven years in prison.

Flavio Ramos Caballero, 17, Oscar Gustavo Aguilar, 17, and Duane Darcell Morgan, 16, are suspected of fatally shooting Windsor High School student Nathaniel Torres, 15, and fleeing to Nevada and later to Sonora, Mexico.

Three other teens also were shot and wounded in the incident, which occurred after midnight June 22 at a party.

Detectives found out the suspects were in Mexico and sought help from the FBI and Mexican officials to find and arrest them. They were arrested in October and recently brought to Sonoma County.

Quiroz was arrested six days after the shooting. His attorney said he is not planning to testify against the other men in their cases. The other three defendants next appear in court in April.
