New CEO to run Coppola’s wine, resort and food business

Steven Spadarotto has been named co-CEO of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola’s wine, resort and food business as the Geyserville company prepares for the retirement of chairman and CEO Jay Shoemaker.

Spadarotto will succeed Shoemaker as CEO of Francis Ford Coppola Presents when the executive retires at year’s end.

Most recently, Spadarotto served as vice president and general manager of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in the Napa Valley. Previously, he served as senior vice president of wine operations for Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines and chief operating officer of Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates/Jackson Family Farms.

In his new role, Spadarotto will oversee Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville and the former Geyser Peak production facility, which the company acquired in 2013 and has yet to rename. He also will spearhead efforts for Coppola Resorts, a collection of boutique hotels in Belize, Guatemala and Italy. Café Zoetrope in San Francisco and Mammarella’s Foods, which produces premium organic pastas and sauces, will also fall under Spadarotto’s responsibilities. Inglenook remains a separate and independent company.
