Police: Student brought weapon to Elsie Allen High School

An Elsie Allen High School student brought a weapon on campus Tuesday afternoon, police and school officials said.

The Santa Rosa Police Department was called out to the school in the early afternoon with a report of a student who had a weapon in a backpack, said Sgt. Jeneane Kucker.

Kucker refused to say what type of weapon was brought to the Bellevue Avenue school or if the student was taken into custody.

School officials also were tight-lipped. Principal Mary Gail Stablein declined to specify what disciplinary action was taken in regard to the student.

“There was appropriate disciplinary action taken,” Stablein said. “Every incident with a student is different and we have to look into all the parameters.”

The 1,100-student school has a resource officer, but the case was handled by the Santa Rosa Police Department, Stablein said.

There was no lockdown at the school nor were any other students or teachers involved in the incident, she added.

Stablein said the incident was “very atypical” for her campus. “Safety is a top priority for our kids.”
