Back in business, Sebastopol feed store reopens after 2013 fire

Sebastopol has a downtown pet and livestock emporium once again, with the quiet opening Monday of The Feed Store on the site of the former Frizelle Enos outlet.

After weeks of awaiting final approvals and permits allowing them to welcome customers, owners Stacey and Tony Renati opened their doors with lots of relief, if little fanfare.

“About 8:30 on Monday morning, we put the flag out and took a deep breath and just carried on,” Stacey Renati said Wednesday.

The spacious new store was built upon what was left after a July 2013 blaze that destroyed the longtime Frizelle Enos store on Petaluma Avenue, leaving only the concrete floor and cinder-block walls behind.

The owners of Frizelle Enos, who still have a Penn-?grove store, decided not to renew their lease with Tenny Tucker, Stacey Renati’s father, so she and her husband, longtime general manager of the store, decided to go into business themselves, rebuilding and rebranding with an eye toward maintaining tradition.

Business since Monday “is building and building,” Stacey Renati said, “and that’s kind of how we wanted to do it, just to take a breath.”
