A search is continuing on Hidden Valley Lake in Lake County for a fisherman who disappeared Tuesday morning.

The man’s kayak was found overturned in the reservoir.

“We’re treating it now as a recovery operation,” Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin said Thursday.

The identity of the 42-year-old man will not be released until he is located and his family is notified, Martin said.

Dive teams, sonar and a cadaver dog had failed to locate a body as of early Thursday evening.

Martin said the lake’s water was murky and filled with vegetation, making it difficult to see below the surface.

The Lake County sheriff’s marine patrol unit and divers from Lake County’s Northshore Fire Protection District and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office were conducting the search with help from other state and local agencies.

The man lived in the Hidden Valley Lake subdivision and fished its reservoir regularly, Martin said.

The man may have run into problems on the lake because of Tuesday’s windy conditions, he said.
