Body of missing Mendocino County fisherman found in Hidden Valley Lake

The body of a missing Hidden Valley Lake man who disappeared while fishing on the subdivision’s reservoir last week was recovered Sunday night, Lake County Sheriff’s officials said Monday.

The man has been identified as 42-year-old Jerred William Kathan.

The cause of his death is pending an autopsy, said Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Brooks.

It was windy on the lake Tuesday, when the man’s kayak was found, empty and overturned.

More than 10 North Coast agencies assisted in the search for Kathan, he said.
