Fort Bragg police Tuesday said they are looking for a person who set fire to foam insulation at the base of the Noyo Bridge.

The fire was reported at 11:15 p.m. Sunday by a man who said he saw the fire at the base of the north end of the bridge and tried to put it out with his drinking water, Sgt. Brandon Lee said. The fire department extinguished the blaze, and the damage was not substantial.

Lee said in a statement that police have no leads on who may have started the fire. The area under the bridge is frequented by transients and is a “high foot traffic area,” Lee said.

He asked that anyone with information about the fire call the Fort Bragg Police Department at 964-0200.
