Roseland University Prep ranked among the top high schools in the state and country in a 2015 study released this month by U.S. News & World Report.

The Sebastopol Road charter school was 24th in the state and 144th in the nation in the magazine’s report, with the main criteria being students’ performance on state assessments and how well the school prepares students for college.

This is not the first year the 870-student school, where about 90 percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch, has ranked high in the annual report. In 2012, it was seventh in the state and 40th in the nation.

“It’s great for the community and teachers and parents to be recognized for their hard work,” Principal Suzanne Reese said. “But we’re never complacent, we always know we could be doing better to meet the needs of our kids.”
