Clearlake pair charged in death of man found in wooded lot

The state Attorney General’s Office has charged two Clearlake residents in connection with the death of a man whose remains were uncovered by a dog late last year.

Gary Williams, 30, was charged Friday with murder, committing the murder during the commission of a robbery and related charges in connection with the death of Guillermo Figueroa, 36, of Hidden Valley Lake, the Clearlake Police Department reported Tuesday.

Crystal Pearls, 41, also of Clearlake, was charged with making terrorist threats, dissuading a witness and burglary, police said.

The police department did not report details about what led to the arrests.

Figueroa had been reported missing by his wife in October. Police suspected drugs were a factor in his disappearance.

Police discovered Figueroa’s remains in late November after a Clearlake man reported his dog had found a skull and brought it home to his yard on Oleander Street, police said. Additional remains were found by police during a search of a nearby wooded area.

A sedan registered to Figueroa, a father of three, had earlier been found about a quarter-mile from where his body was discovered.
