Mendocino County man’s body found in parked car in Los Angeles County

Authorities said it appeared the 28-year-old Leggett man was the victim of a homicide.|

A Mendocino County man whose body was found in the trunk of his car near the Southern California city of Santa Clarita was the victim of a homicide, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Jose David Flores, 28, was found dead inside the trunk of his 2005 blue Honda Accord that was parked illegally on a street in Canyon Country, in the northwestern Los Angeles County.

A Santa Clarita sheriff’s deputy discovered the body after stopping at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday to check on the vehicle.

Flores was a resident of Leggett. An autopsy was scheduled to determine his cause of death.
