A Lake County man suspected of drunken driving crashed his motorcycle around 1:30 a.m. Saturday while trying to evade police after leaving a Lakeport bar, officials said.

Michael William Lockett of Lakeport led police on a pursuit, going more than 50 mph through a residential neighborhood, before going over an embankment with his motorcycle, according to police. After the crash, he tried to flee police on foot, but officers caught up with him and detained him.

Lockett was arrested after admitting to drinking at the Clearlake Club Bar, police said. He also said he’d taken painkillers.

He was booked into Lake County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges, including evading police and driving under the influence.
